Introduction
eSheBee is committed to fostering sustainable development across Bangladesh. With over a decade of experience in empowering women and communities, we are excited to launch the Clean Cooking Project—a transformative initiative that aims to revolutionize cooking habits, improve health outcomes, and reduce carbon footprints through clean cooking technologies.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every household has access to efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly cooking solutions. By distributing 100,000 induction and conduction stoves, we aim to address the challenges of indoor air pollution, high fuel costs, and the negative health impacts caused by traditional cooking methods.
The Need for Clean Cooking
- Health Impact: Traditional cooking methods, such as burning firewood and charcoal, produce harmful indoor air pollution, contributing to respiratory diseases, eye irritation, and other health problems. This project will reduce exposure to toxic smoke, leading to better health outcomes, especially for women and children.
- Environmental Benefits: By shifting to induction and conduction stoves, we will reduce the dependence on biomass fuels like firewood, which contribute to deforestation, carbon emissions, and the degradation of local ecosystems. Clean cooking technologies are energy-efficient and contribute to reducing the carbon footprint.
- Economic Savings: Clean cooking technologies are more fuel-efficient, which means lower household energy costs. Families will save money by using less fuel, improving overall household economic stability.
Target Areas
We will focus on both urban slums and rural low-income communities (villages and flood-prone areas). These are regions where traditional cooking methods are most prevalent, and the impact of transitioning to clean cooking will be most significant. Our distribution strategy will allocate:
- 40% of stoves (40,000) to urban slums.
- 60% of stoves (60,000) to rural low-income communities.
Why eSheBee?
- Proven Experience: eSheBee has successfully implemented the Improved Cook Stoves (ICS) Project in partnership with IDCOL and USAID, making us a trusted knowledge partner in clean cooking initiatives across Bangladesh.
- Nationwide Network: Since 2014, we have built a strong network of over 25,000 women entrepreneurs, youth, community leaders, and local organizations, which will be leveraged to distribute and promote clean cooking technologies.
- Sustainability Commitment: We don’t just distribute stoves; we provide ongoing training, support, and awareness programs to ensure the long-term success and adoption of clean cooking technologies.
Our Approach
- Strategic Partnerships: We are seeking collaborations with organizations and government bodies to amplify the impact of this project. By working together, we can leverage carbon market opportunities and scale up the distribution of stoves.
- Training and Awareness: We will engage local communities through training sessions on the benefits of clean cooking, how to use the stoves efficiently, and the long-term health and economic advantages.
- Monitoring & Follow-up: Post-distribution monitoring will be conducted to assess the continued usage of stoves, gather feedback from users, and ensure the intended health and environmental outcomes.
Carbon Savings & Impact
The switch to induction and conduction stoves will result in substantial carbon savings by reducing reliance on traditional biomass fuels. This project will:
- Decrease Carbon Emissions: Each stove will lower CO2 emissions by reducing the amount of firewood or charcoal burned in households.
- Improve Indoor Air Quality: By eliminating smoke and particulate matter, these stoves will significantly improve indoor air quality and reduce health risks, especially for women and children.
Partnership & Investment Opportunities
We invite potential partners to join hands with eSheBee in implementing this impactful project. Opportunities for collaboration include:
- Financial Support: Partners can help fund the stove distribution or the training and awareness campaigns.
- Carbon Credit Generation: Partners can collaborate with us to leverage carbon credits generated through emission reductions and participate in the carbon market.
- Technology Support: We are open to partnerships with technology providers for stove supply, maintenance, and innovations in clean cooking solutions.
